Malcolm S Johnson

Malcolm S. Johnson is a PhD candidate at the University of Tasmania researching the interconnections between climate change risk perspectives and landscape values in the Huon Valley (Tasmania) coastalscape through the mixed method of Q+PPGIS. Before starting his studies in Australia, he led the development of a community-based integrated watershed management plan on Rota (CNMI) as the National Coral Reef Management Fellow, assisted in the community-driven creation of a marine protected area and coastal resource management plan on Guimaras (Philippines) as a Coastal Resource Management Volunteer, and has engaged in several environmental and outdoor education positions across the United States. Malcolm holds a master's in international environmental policy with a focus on coastal resource management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (CA) and a bachelor's with honours in environmental sociology and ecology from Wichita State University (KS). Outside of his principal research area, he is an avid freshwater eel advocate, having written multiple chapters, papers, and musical performances about eels from the many places he has lived.
