Nadia Degregori
I am a final-year PhD researcher in Human Geography at the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, The University of Melbourne; and Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales as part of the Environment & Society group. My current research project examines the role of temporality during mine closure, using a Political Ecology approach, with the aim of elucidating new ways to understand the impact of mining on the lives, wellbeing, and sovereignty of humans and non-humans co-existing with extraction.and support; more broadly, I am interested in combining social science and humanities approaches and methods, including ethnography, oral testimony, archival research, and creative practice, to understand the relationships between nature and society. My previous professional experiences include stakeholder management, policy analysis and research into the socio-environmental dimensions of resource extraction in Latin America with WWF, USAID, Plan International as well as with private companies.
