Elizabeth Leane
My original training is in physics and literary studies, and I work in the interdisciplinary area of Antarctic studies. I am interested how people form their ideas of Antarctica both through cultural texts and lived experience of the environment, and how these two ways of knowing the region interact. I'm the author of South Pole: Nature and Culture (2016), Antarctica in Fiction (2012) and Reading Popular Physics (2007), and the co-editor of Performing Ice (2020), Anthropocene Antarctica (2019) and Considering Animals (2011). I'm a former Australian Antarctic Arts Fellow and Arts and Culture editor of The Polar Journal.
